Marine Mammal Conservation Collection
The Atheneum houses a unique collection of journals (scientific and conservationist), plus papers and articles about whales and other marine mammals covering several decades from the 1970s to present.
This material also chronicles whaling and the ‘Save the Whale Movement’ worldwide during this period. An additional subset of materials also covers interspecies communication efforts by scientific researchers of the time.
As part of the Nantucket Atheneum’s non-circulating reference selections the Marine Mammal Conservation Collection is open to the public free of charge during library hours.
