Ann Scott, Executive Director
Ann Scott became the 9th Executive Director of the Nantucket Atheneum in September 2019. Scott served as Executive Director at Basalt Regional Library in western Colorado and in a variety of leadership roles, including Programs, Outreach and Marketing over her 17 years in public libraries. Scott earned her Masters in Library Science from Drexel University and was the unanimous choice of the Atheneum board following a nationwide search. She oversees all aspects of the Atheneum, which include circulating collections of books and media for children, teens and adults, an archival collection of historic artifacts, stewardship of the historic 1847 building and garden, and the execution of more than 1,300 programs a year.
Cheryl Creighton, Operations Manager
Cheryl began working at the Atheneum in November 2010. She was promoted to Operations Manager in April 2012 and is responsible for the building and grounds and human resource functions of the Nantucket Atheneum. Additionally, she provides support to the Board of Trustees. She also serves as the coordinator for the Literacy Volunteers of the Atheneum.
Cheryl grew up in Concord, MA and graduated with a Master’s of Science in Teaching from the Environmental Studies Program at Antioch New England. She has worked in the field of conservation administration and been a volunteer in the Nantucket community since 1988.
Ashley Christ, Finance Manager
Kaley Kokomoor, Communications and Outreach Manager
Kaley joined the Atheneum in April of 2018 as a Development Associate and
transitioned in 2020 to the new position of Communication and Outreach Manager. Kaley is responsible for the Atheneum’s marketing and communications efforts, implementing promotional strategies for the library’s programs and services, and developing collaborative relationships with other Nantucket organizations.
Kaley grew up in Mystic, CT then graduated from Bowdoin College in 2013 with her BA in English and Africana Studies and a minor in teaching. She taught elementary school in Connecticut and Maine for several years and tutored students on Nantucket during her summer holidays. After the summer of 2017, Kaley decided to make Nantucket her permanent home.

Elizabeth Kelly, Department Head
Elizabeth joined the Atheneum in 2014 as Reference Librarian and Technologist. In 2020, she was promoted to Head of Adult Circulation and is responsible for patron services and collection development.
Elizabeth has BA in History from Lesley University and earned her Masters of Library and Information Science from Simmons College in 2013. Originally from the Boston area, she has been a full-time resident of Nantucket for the past seven years.
Amy Jenness, Department Head
Amy joined the Atheneum in September 2005. She is responsible for planning and executing library programs for adults, including cultural events in the Great Hall, the summer Geschke Lecture Series, and educational programs in the Learning Lab. In addition, Amy facilitates the library’s monthly newsletter and maintains the website.
Amy grew up in Duxbury, MA and attended the University of Massachusetts, where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She is currently enrolled at Lesley University pursuing an MFA in creative writing. Amy has worked as a newspaper and radio reporter, magazine editor and freelance writer, both on and off island. She is the author of On this Day in Nantucket History (History Press 2014) and a member of the Moors Poets Collective. Amy first came to Nantucket in 1981 as a college student for the summer and has lived here full time since 1997.
Cheryl Creighton, LVA Coordinator
Lincoln Thurber, Department Head
Lincoln J. Thurber III joined the Atheneum in 2001. He is Head Reference Librarian and also oversees special collections archives and public access technology. Lincoln’s Reference team has an excellent track record of building and strengthening online services to meet and exceed the high expectations of Atheneum patrons. He has set the standard for innovative library experiences in Cape and Islands with classes on 3D printing, PC building, programming and other fun technology tinkering at the library.
New England born, Lincoln holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut. In 2001, he graduated with honors from Simmons College with a Masters of Science in Library and Information systems.
Weezie Library for Children
Leslie Malcolm, Department Head
Leslie joined the Atheneum in October 2011. She grew up in Summit, New Jersey and worked for the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles before moving to Nantucket in 1994.
Leslie earned her BA in Art History from Randolph College, and her Master of Library and Information Science from Simmons College. She started volunteering at the Atheneum in 1998 and it was that experience that inspired her to become a librarian. She has a daughter, Gwen.
Maggie O’Reilly, Director of Development
Maggie joined the Atheneum in June 2014 as the Director of Development. She was previously a Leadership Gifts Officer at Milton Academy in Milton, MA. She began her tenure at Milton in 2007 as Associate Director of Annual Programs. Before joining the Alumni and Development team at Milton, she worked for the March of Dimes in Philadelphia, PA.
Maggie graduated from Providence College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology. She and her husband Vinny live in Marblehead with their daughter Roan.
