Husband and wife Stephen B. Shepard and Lynn Povich have been shaping journalism for 40 years. Povich is the daughter of Washington Post sports columnist Shirley Povich and began her career as a secretary in the Paris Bureau of Newsweek. She became a reporter in 1970 and was one of 46 women who sued the magazine for sex discrimination. Five years later she was appointed the first woman Senior Editor in NewsweekĂ˘’s history. She is the author of The Good Girls Revolt: How The Women of Newsweek Sued Their Bosses and Changed The Workplace.
Shepard is the founding dean of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism also taught at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and has held key editorial positions at BusinessWeek Newsweek and the Saturday Review. He is the author of Deadlines and Disruption: My Turbulent Path From Print to Digital.
