Dance Festival: Jared Angle

Jared Angle was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania where he began his early dance training at age six at the Allegheny Ballet Academy. He received the Rudolf Nureyev Scholarship to attend SAB, the official school of NYCB, where he was enrolled from 1996-1998. Mr. Angle became an apprentice with New York City Ballet in March 1998 and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in July 1998 and promoted to Principal 2005.

He was awarded the Princess Grace Foundation USA Dance Fellowship in 2001. Since joining NYCB, Mr. Angle has performed works by George Balanchine including: Allegro Brillante, Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet, “Emeralds” from Jewels, Divertimento No. 15, Kammermusik No. 2, and Liebeslieder Walze; Jerome Robbins I’m Old Fashion, In Memory of…, and In the Night; Peter Martins Barber Violin Concerto, Jeu De Cartes and Swan Lake among others. He has originated roles in new works by Martins, Twyla Tharp, Benjamin Millepied, Richard Tanner, Helgi Tomasson and Christopher Wheeldon, among others. In addition, he has been a guest artist with the Rome Opera Ballet, Singapore Ballet, Nevada Ballet Theater, and performed as a part of The San Francisco Ballet’s 75th Anniversary Season, and the 22nd International Ballet Festival in Havana. He is thrilled to return for a second year to the Nantucket Atheneum Dance Festival!
